Behind the research

Methodology

How ArtisanSW researches software, distinguishes documented facts from tested results, and keeps recommendations accountable.

Start with the decision

We frame software around a practical job: the workflow, users, volume, and constraints it needs to support. A recommendation should explain both the useful fit and the circumstances in which another approach makes more sense.

Source priority

We prioritize official product pages, pricing pages, documentation, integration directories, and provider terms for product-controlled facts. A listed integration does not prove that every object, field, or exception synchronizes in the direction a reader needs.

Research, reported experience, and testing

Our current profiles are based on source research. Official product imagery illustrates the software and is labelled with its source; it does not imply that we captured it during a test.

Customer-review sites and community discussions can reveal questions worth investigating. Individual accounts remain anecdotal, and selected discussions are not a representative customer survey. We separate them from official facts and do not invent star ratings or firsthand experience.

When we publish a hands-on test, it must identify the plan, date, scenario, inputs, and limitations. Example data must be labelled, and a controlled trial must not be described as a measured customer outcome.

Pricing and calculations

Starting prices retain their billing period, commitment, seat, workspace, and usage qualifications. Quote-only products say “Contact sales.” Calculators show their assumptions and excluded costs. An illustrative estimate is not a vendor quote or a promise of savings.

Missing and conflicting facts

Missing information remains unknown. We withhold conflicting claims until a reliable resolution is available. An absent trial statement does not establish that no trial exists, and an unverified connection does not establish that no integration is available.

Dates and corrections

A source-check date describes when the underlying information was reviewed. A page-update date can also reflect a new explanation, comparison, or correction; it does not mean every product claim was tested again. Readers should confirm material pricing, contract, and operational requirements with the provider.

To report an error, email info@artisansw.com with the page URL, the claim, and a relevant source. We check the evidence and revise supported corrections, including dates where the underlying research changes.

Commercial independence

Affiliate availability does not determine product conclusions. Genuine tracking links are disclosed and marked as sponsored. Commercial arrangements do not bypass the evidence standards described here. Read the affiliate disclosure.
