Details: Laurel Crown’s Chippendale settee with ball and claw feet captures the belovedclassic styling of Thomas Chippendale himself. The intricate details have been painstakingly recreatedfrom an original English Chippendale settee from the Colonial Revival 18th Century: the serpentinetop rail, side rails, and splats are covered in hand carved scrollwork featuring acanthus leaves andcartouches – even the back is carved with details. Gently curving cabriole legs end in classic ball and clawfeet, giving our Chippendale settee true, authentic styling. Our two-seater Chippendale settee provides a comfortable and roomy alternative to ordinary chairsthat can be placed in your living room or hallway. First developed during the Colonial Revival, this setteeand all of its intricate details has been painstakingly replicated from an actual Chippendale antique topreserve the authenticity of the beloved style. The serpentine top rail, side rails, and splats of this setteeare all covered in hand carved scrollwork featuring acanthus leaves and cartouches. Even the back ofthe settee is carved with details. Unlike some simpler and less developed styles of Chippendale chairs,this settee has three cabriole legs with the classic claw-and-ball feet as opposed to straight legs or thesimpler scroll feet. In keeping with the period’s authenticity, this settee is made from mahogany woodwhich was favored by Thomas Chippendale and is of higher quality than walnut or fruitwoods.
