The decision in brief
Our assessment
Shortlist Trunk when channel stock is the problem and your store listings already work. Its narrower scope is useful for a seller who needs shared quantities without introducing manufacturing planning.
What to know about pricing
Essential · per account · Billed monthly
The still-published official help article is dated June 2023. Higher fulfilled-order bands cost more and can automatically change the tier. Confirm the current checkout quote before committing.
Compare the full cost of your workflow, including seats, order volume, add-ons, and implementation where applicable. A starting price is not a quote for your business.
Where Trunk fits
A mug sold alone and inside a gift set must draw from one physical stock pool. Trunk documents component dependencies for this type of static bundle. Materials can also exist in Trunk without having their own storefront listing.
The critical setup work is SKU mapping. Import the channel with the most accurate stock first, let that import finish, and then connect the others. A matching SKU links quantities; similar product names are not a reliable identifier.
- Good candidate: identical finished goods listed on Shopify and Etsy.
- Good candidate: fixed two-packs, gift sets, and bundles sharing components.
- Check another system first if you need batch costing, purchasing, or production scheduling.
Limits that change the decision
Trunk's FAQ describes stock synchronization rather than order or listing synchronization. Keep your order handling, listing descriptions, and fulfillment process in their existing systems.
Static kits fit its documented model. For a build-your-own bundle, each configuration needs a distinct SKU according to the vendor. Validate how many combinations your catalog would create before you commit.
Treat the vendor's real-time description as a claim to test. Record the delay between a sale, the component change, and the second storefront update. Concurrent sales and channel outages still belong in your trial.
Before you connect your entire catalog
Begin with two standalone component SKUs and one kit on a test listing. Set a conservative stock allowance. Place one order, cancel an unfulfilled order, then test a refund both with and without returning goods to saleable stock. Record each channel's settings and resulting quantities.
Use the linked workflow for expected arithmetic and an event log. A cancellation restoring saleable stock and a monetary refund are different events; do not assume the same inventory effect.
